Big Buckle Card with IC

I love to make big buckle cards. They are an easy template (post a comment or e-mail me if you'd like the dimensions). I wanted to use the new IC's, especially the melon mambo (I was in a girly mood). I had an extra scallopped circle punchout from a previous stamping session. I had colored the image with markers (the IC come in markers this year; how cool is that?!) and thought it'd make a great focal point for the front of the card, especially with a little filigree brad. I stamped a row of the circle images in various colors down the right side and added some ribbon to the belt!

Supplies:
sets - circle circus
cs - melon mambo, ww, razzleberry lemonade
ink - melon mambo, rich razzleberry & crushed curry pads & markers
access - filigree brads, 1/6" handheld punch, dimensionals, melon mambo polka dot ribbon

Easy Peasy Window Card

This is a super easy card using that great circle circus set. It's a little bit masculine looking because of the colors. I took a ww card and stamped all over it with various images in several of the new In Colors. I folded back the right edge, did some sponging and tied it with a piece of ribbon. Then I stamped a row of the smallest circle on the inside right edge. I punched a circle hole and stamped the dotted circle image and greeting through it. The greeting is from the Really Retro set #113754 which is on the dormant list (shown on p 132 of the 2009 Spring/Summer catalog). Stop by again for more cards!

Supplies:
sets - circle circus, really retro
cs - whisper white
ink - rich razzleberry, crushed curry, bermuda bay, melon mambo
aaccess - crushed curry polka dot ribbon, 1-3/8" circle punch

Another Butterfly Card

Ok, here's the other butterfly card I told you about yesterday. This one is a regular A-2 card size. It's made pretty much the same as yesterday's card, but has a layer of dsp instead of cs that's been stamped all over with the little flower from the butterfly set. Below is a picture of the inside of both cards. I used the side of flowered butterfly image and inked it in apricot appeal (or melon mambo for yesterday's card) and then stamped along the bottom of the card. We made this for Trish's party last Sun. I hope to make it in a class or at club, or maybe for my shoebox card (hmmmm, I still need to plan my card for my Shoebox Event).

Supplies:
stamps - flight of the butterfly, circle circus
cs - whisper white, so saffron, razzleberry lemonade dsp
ink - pumpkin pie, apricot appeal
access - 1-3/4" circle, scallop edge and butterfly punches, dimensionals, polka dot ribbon, paper piercer and mat pack

Melon Mambo Butterfly Card

Dave and my boys went to a SJ Earthquakes game last Sat night. I could have gone, but decided to opt out. Instead I had a stamping good time! This is one of the cards I made (I was in a girly pink mood). I had a large scrap of pretty in pink and thought, "Why cut it down?" Instead I made a 5x5" card since I recently purchased 5-1/2" square envelopes (like I'm really going to mail this, ha ha). I pierced each of the scallops along the bottom, although it doesn't show in the photo. The circle image behind the butterfly is from the Circle Circus set. It can be a focal point all by itself. I punched stamped the butterfly dotted image in mellon mambo and then the body in pretty in pink. Hint: I find that if I stamp the detail butterfly first and then the solid body second I can line it up without using my stamp-a-ma-jing (SAMJ). Next I punched it out with my new butterfly punch, added one dimensional under the body, and bent up the wings.

Tomorrow I'll show you another version of this card using yellows, dsp, and a regular size that we made at Trish's workshop Sun. Everyone seemed to like it and I think I'll do it in a Class or for Club. Thanks for looking and be sure to stop by tomorrow!

Remember to let me know by 7/30 if you want the Deal of the Week Heart to Heart punch.

Supplies:
sets - flight of the butterfly, circle circus
cs - whisper white, pretty in pink, melon mambo
ink - pretty in pink & melon mambo pads
access - paper piercer & mat pack, mambo polka dot ribbon, butterfly punch, scallop edge punch, 1-3/4" circle punch, dimensionals

Styled Vanilla HPH Card for Deal of the Week

This was a simple card, but I wanted to do something to show off the Vanilla Hodgepodge Hardware (HPH) for Trish's workshop yesterday. It was the last day for the HPH to be on sale for only $18.99 as part of SU's Deal of the Week. I don't have the designer lable punch, so I created a window using the scallop oval punch and the 1-1/4" circle punch. Then I put the hardware over it. I had to tweak the brads a bit, but it worked. The watercolor vine wheel that I used as a background isn't shown in the catalog, but never fear. It hasn't retired; it's on the dormant list.

Supplies:
sets - thoughts and prayers
cs - mellow moss, very vanilla, perfect plum
ink - always artichoke, perfect plum & pale plum markers, perfect plum pad, always artichoke ink cartridge
access - watercolor vine jumbo wheel, vanilla HPH,

Customer Cards from Open House

Heidi had something special to show us. She made this card with the new Medallion background stamp from the new catalog. Isn't it absolutely gorgeous? I'm hoping this will be the card she chooses to prepare for us to make at my Shoebox Event on 8/9/09. More on that tomorrow!

Customers took liberty on the card designs at my New Catalog Open House last week and altered them slightly. Above are their versions.

New Catalog Open House Card #2, options

This is the second card that you get to make at my Open House. It has a white card base and a lower piece of melon mambo textured cardstock that's punched with the scallop edge punch. The textured cs really adds dimension; I'm lovin' it! You'll use the In Color markers to ink the flower image, so everyone's will be unique. The top portion of the card is from the razzleberry lemonade dsp pack and you can use whichever side you want. This set has MANY great sayings to choose from as well. On the top card I added the second sentiment on a little flag (because I messed up when I stamped it directly on the card). It's very simple to get the "v" cut at the end of the flag. Just turn the 3/4" square punch to a diamond shape and voila! Finally, you'll also get to choose your color of polka dot ribbon. I hope everyone has as much fun making these cards as I did!
I'm selling the new catalog for $8 at my Open House, but if you place a $50 order at the Open House you can get it for $5! Wohoo!!! Or better yet, join my stamp club or hostess a workshop and I will give you the catalog for FREE!!!!
Supplies:
sets - kind and caring thoughts
cs - melon mambo, whisper white, razzleberry lemonade designer series paper
ink - basic black pad, rich razzleberry pad, In Color markers
access - polka dot ribbon, dimensionals, wide oval and scallop edge punches, sponge

Circle Circus 3x6 Card for Open House

I promised I'd show you the cards you will make at my New Catalog Open House this Friday. It's only 1 day away, yahoo! Here's the first card we'll make. Actually my friend and dowline, Cheryl, designed this card. Isn't it cute? I just love this new Circle Circus set. I almost didn't buy it, but I'm so glad I did! I made a couple small changes and here's my version. It works as a regular size card, too.

Supplies:
set - circle circus
cs - sage shadow, barely banana, chocolate chip, whisper white
ink - sage shadow pad
access - tag punch, 3/4", 1-1/4" & scallop circle punches, half back pearl from the pretties kit, mini glue dot to attach it, dimensionals, soft suede polka dot ribbon

PLEASE NOTE: I will be placing an order Friday after the Open House. Please let me know if you want to add to it. I will be placing it in time to get the Deal of the Week Square Fire Rhinestone brads (they're a great deal!).

Another Brayer Resist Card from 7/9 class

Here's the fourth card we did in my Technique Class last Thur. It uses the same versamark brayer resist technique that I used on my husband's b-day card (see yesterday's first post). I love the script verses from this third level hostess set. They're so pretty! I was a little worried about how the delicate words would stamp on the textured card, but it worked just fine. Doesn't that summer sun corduroy button add a nice touch? I used the non-polkadot side of our polkadot grosgrain ribbon. I love how only one side is dotted; it's like getting two ribbons in one!
Supplies:
sets - kind and caring thoughts
cs - basic black, bermuda bay textured, glossy white, whisper white (guts)
ink - crushed curry pad, basic black pad, versamark in pad
access - slit punch, black gg ribbon, crushed curry polkadot ribbon, dimensionals, tissue, corduroy buttons

Happy Birthday Vicki!

Mon was also my friend, Vicki's birthday. We've known each other since we were five, but I won't say how many years that is! lol. This is a card we made last Thur in my technique class. It uses designer paper from the new catalog and I love the way it opens to show off both sides of the paper. Embossing a bold image in white directly on the dsp is stunning, especially if the dsp is dark. The ribbon (our new polkadot grosgrain) is done in a simple way with no knots so it's less bulky to mail and it doesn't use much ribbon. First, make two holes with the double rectangle punch (this ribbon is 1/2" wide, so it helped to punch the holes 1-1/2 times to make them a little bigger for the wider ribbon). Second, thread both ribbon ends through the holes from front to back. Then cross them in the back and thread them from back to front. Last, trim the ribbon. Hint: cut your ribbon ends at an angle to thread more easily.
Supplies:
sets - upsy daisy
cs - rich razzleberry, whisper white, razzleberry lemonade dsp
ink - rich razzleberry pad, white craft pad (versamark pad would also work)
access - embossing buddy, heat tool, white embossing powder, eyelet border punch, double rectangle punch, rich razzleberry polkadot grosgrain ribbon

Happy Birthday Dave!

Mon was my husband's birthday and I made this card for him, but I was unable to post it because my blogsite wasn't working properly. It uses the versamark brayer resist technique. I stamped the ginko leaves image from the new hostess, L-3 set in versamark ink on glossy white cardstock, then brayered over it with green galore classic ink. After brayering, you wipe it with a tissue to really make the image pop.
Supplies:
set - kind and caring thoughts (Level-3 hostess set)
cs- basic black, glossy white, gable green
ink - basic black pad, green galore pad, versamark pad
access - black gg ribbon, eyelet, crop-a-dile, slit punch, dimensionals

Technique Class Cards

inside:

I'm just loving this Circle Circus set from the new catalog. We made this card in class yesterday instead of the other circle circus one I posted. I wanted something more masculine. I thought the verse, from the Really Retro set that's on the dormant list, really fit with the circles. I sponged around and popped up the "hey there" on the front with a dimensional. I'm going with the boys to my mom's this weekend, but I'll be back and showing more cards on Mon!
Supplies:
sets - circle circus, really retro (dormant list)
cs - certainly celery, chocolate chip, whisper white
ink - certainly celery, chocolate chip, melon mambo, bermuda bay
access - dimensionals, bermuda bay gg ribbon, sponge dauber, dimensional

Birthday Prizes

My son had a sleepover for his 11th birthday last night. They went around the neighborhood on a scavenger hunt and these are the prizes they got. It was a notebook and a rice krispy treat.

Ray wanted a black forest cake. It's the first time ever that I've served a birthday cake where everyone ate their entire piece! Was that because it was a big hit or that they're growing boys? lol
Supplies:
sets - under the stars, amazing to zany
cs - kraft
ink - basic black pad
access - large cellophane bags, celery polytwill ribbon

Grams Funeral, Sneak Peak at Card for 7/9/09 Class

I went to my friend Cheryl's today and we played with some of the new product. This is one of the cards we'll make at my 7/9/09 class. It uses a cool technique with the wwc's and twill tape as featured in the new catalog.
My husband's Gram's funeral tomorrow. It's a good thing I postponed my new catalog Open House since my catalogs haven't arrived yet! We have to leave by 7;30am for Gram's funeral, so I've got to get to bed. I'll post another card that we'll make at next Thur's class on Fri, so be sure to check back!
I'm excited about the new catalog that was released today. You can see it on my business website (see link). SU has improved our business websites. They now have links to the catalogs, supply lists, ideas, etc. You can also get feeds of promotions, etc. I've been crazy busy and haven't had much time to make updates. My son will turn 11 on Mon and he's having a slumber party Sun night.
Supplies:
sets - thoughts and prayers
cs - garden green, ruby red, kraft
ink - garden green & ruby red classic pads
access - twill tape, watercolor wonder crayons, dimensionals
