Feel Better!

for Cathy H

for Cathy H, inside
My friend had foot surgery the day before Valentine's Day.  What a bummer!  She's recovering well, but it's more difficult than she expected.  Good luck Cathy!  Hope you are your energetic self again really soon.

for Donna
My college roommate has breast cancer and had a double masectomy recently.  They didn't find any cancer in the lymph nodes and think they got it all.  We are planning a trip to San Diego in April, which will include a visit with her.  God Bless you Donna!

My friend Shelagh had a really nasty cold recently and so it was a great excuse to make this adorable card.  I copied it from this card here.  There is a link on Ruth's blog to Lorri's blog with the original card she copied.  I just added the sentiment on the inside.  I want to make a version of  this card at my SAB class next month.  Hope you can join me!

Happy Graduation Caralee!

for Caralee S

for Caralee S, inside
I made this as a sort of different graduation card for my friend Shelagh's daughter who recently obtained her master's degree - a big accomplishment!  I copied Ruth's card here, with a few changes.

If you like this card we'll be making something similar in my March SAB class.

Happy Retirement!

My husband needed a retirement card for a co-worker, so I made this.  It uses two very old, retired SU sets that I love.  I think it turned out great and Dave said he liked it.

"Owl of Us" Send Thanks

I attended my church's 8th Annual Women's Retreat last weekend.  I was on the planning committee and offered to make the thank you card for the presenter.  It needed to be big enough for about 50 women to sign and had to say something about being from a group.

I though about an adorable card my friend Cathy M made for me last year.  It was a get well card, but it had a bunch of the cute owls from the Aviary set sitting in the Loads of Love truck.  I thought it would be perfect.  I used the "sending many thanks" from petite pairs (Cathy's great suggestion) and I printed "From Owl of Us" on my computer for the middle layer.  The card opens up for a 9 x 11" signing space!

Another Valentine

Valentine from Shelagh

I got this card  on Valentine's Day, but just got around to photographing it and posting it.  I just love Shelagh's layout and the fun images.  I can see using this layout with my new Spring Sampler set from the Spring Catalog.  Maybe I'll get to it for a Spring class I'm thinking of having in March.

I have lots of fun cards to post, so be sure to check back often!

February Club Cards

Here are the cards we made in Club last week.  Tomorrow I'll show a couple Valentine cards!  Mary
Shadow Box Card
These shadow box cards are really easy to make.   The cards fold flat to mail in a regular envelope.  Check back tomorrow to see a Valentine version!
  • Start with two pieces of 4.25" x 5.5" cs
  • Score at 0.5" and 1" from each end.  Or if you are using your Simply Scored tool, place the 5.5" edge at the top and score at 0.5", 1", 4.5" and 5".
  • Between the inner score lines ~ Cut an opening in the front piece.  Stamp a scene on the back piece
  • Then add sticky strip on the outer 0.5" tabs on the left and right sides of either the front or back piece
  • Pre-fold the score lines so that they create a "shadow box" effect
  • Attach the front and back together.  This is easiest if you only remove the protective liner of the sticky strip on one side at a time
 SUPPLIES:
sets- by the tide, made for you
cs- marina mist, white, naturals ivory
ink- certainly celery, pacific point, cajun craze, regal rose, sahara sand, chocolate chip
access- big shot and ovals framelits, simply scored tool, sticky strip, dimensionals, bone folder

I used the borders scoring plate and the Simply Scored tool to add  texture to the card front and the inside.

To create the chalkboard effect on the banner, simply emboss your greeting with white ep on black cs; then tap a little white craft ink onto the cs to look like chalk dust.

SUPPLIES:
vintage verses - this is a free SAB set with a qualifying purchase
pink pirouette cs, crumb cake cs, marina mist cs (remember that oval we cut out for the shadow box card?), black cs
white craft pad
big shot and lacey brocade TIEF, 1" square punch, Simply Scored tool and Borders plate, 18" linen thread, dimensionals and mini glue dots, vintage buttons (a free SAB item), basic pearls
