SUO Challenge

The current SUO Challenge is to create a card with a set from the current Occasions Mini (the catalog ends at the end of this month), or any retiring set. See the SUO link to the right for more info about this fun challenge.

Here I embossed the teacup image with whisper white ink and e.p. on bashful blue card stock; then I cut it out. The saucer was created by embossing the floral image from "Elements of Style" set in white on an oval of bashful blue cs and embossed with the Big Shot and designer frames embossing folder. The quote is stamped with Night of Navy ink on White cs, punched out with the tag punch, and "attached" with a piece of white Baker's Twine. Finally, everything is layered on a Bashful Blue card with a Night of Navy layer that was texturized with the stripes embossing folder and a piece of white taffeta ribbon.

Enjoy! Mary

Get Well Wishes from Kathy

Just have to show you this adorable card I received a few days ago. The photo doesn't do it justice, sorry Kathy. It almost makes me glad I had surgery! I am doing fine now and will try to blog more soon.

Happy Stamping! Mary
p.s. the Loads of Love (truck) set is retiring on May 31, 2012. See my side bar to see which other sets are retiring.

Happy Easter!

Don't you just love the sweet kids and bunnies on this card? I don't have this set (Heaven Blessed, p. 20 in the Occasions Mini) but my friend
Cheryl does! I made this at her house. Hope you enjoy your day tomorrow. I started making Easter cards, but haven't finished them yet. Maybe I'll get them done still and send hem out a little late.

April Fools - Technique Cards

April Fools - I'm posting! I love the cards we made a couple weeks ago, but haven't had a chance to blog them :(

This card was inspired by a card we made at a demo event (ok, basically copied with a few changes because of supplies I didn't have!).

I'm proud of this card because I took an idea that my friend showed me (card opening in center and "held shut" by punched focal points layered on opposite sides of the opening) and made it my own! OK, I couldn't remember what her card looked like so I was forced to create my own :) That sticky note says to score the card at 2-1/8" and 6-3/8"

I love this vanilla scented embossed card. I was inspired by the card on the last page of the Occasions mini catalog. I'm going to make these to send out this Easter, I hope.

Finally, the last card was one I designed for my Vacaville Shoebox Demo event. The dsp is embossed with the tulips frame embossing folder and then sanded.

Well, I'd add all the details, but my husband is on a business trip and I need to cook dinner! Maybe later, or if you post a comment asking for more info. I might just have to stamp later!

March Club - Box Card, Simply Scored Envelope and Tags

I loved the project we made this month in Club. It looks like a card but when you untie the bow, it opens up and has a little box in which you can stash tags or a small gift. Isn't it cool?

I wanted a vanilla envelope instead of our white square ones, so we made our own! We used a single sheet of 8-1/2 x 11" Very Vanilla cs for the envelope cut down to an 8" square. We used the scraps to make tags to go into the box card. Anyway, use the Simply Scored tool and the Diagonal Plate to score all four sides of the square at 3-3/4". Where the score lines overlap you cut out the "triangles" with scissors or any size square punch. Pre-fold all score lines. Fold in side flaps and secure with a small piece of Sticky Strip. Add SNAIL to the edges of the bottom flap and a small piece of Sticky Strip; fold up and secure. Finally, round the corner of the top flap and decorate your envelope as desired!

For the box card we started with an 8 x 11" piece of Riding Hood Red card stock and used the Simply Scored Tool and the Diagonal Plate. We scored it according to a template another demo gave me at our Vacaville Shoebox swap. I had seen something similar online a long time ago and was eager to try it out! We used the framelits in Very Vanilla, stamped with an image from the Fresh Vintage set (available FREE as a SAB item) in Riding Hood Red. That was layered onto Early Espresso. The dsp is also an item you can earn for free during SAB. Hope you enjoy this cool box card!

Pop-Up Explosion Card

This is a pop-up explosion card I made for Jan's b-day a couple weeks ago, and I'm finally getting around to posting it! It's really easy to make using the new diagonal plate for the Simply Scored tool. Maybe I'll teach something like this in a future class or club. What do you think? This card uses retired dsp and a retired set, plus the current "Hostess only" birthday set. Colors are black, vanilla and Sahara Sand.
